THE WINNERS OF 3RD ALL-RUSSIAN YOUTH MINING RESEARCH COMPETITION "From Idea to Innovation"

The Organising Committee of the MINEX Russia Forum 2013 announces the winners of the 3rd National Youth Research Mining " From idea to innovation."

1st place – Pavel Chigirov, 1st year post graduate student of the Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin, Moscow

Research title: Impact of electrokinetic and physico- chemical phenomena in the process of flooding in clay sewers.

Supervisor – Prof. Valery Cadet

2nd place – Alexei Malutin, 1st year graduate student of the National Mineral Resources University, St. Petersburg

Research title: Improvement of mining technologies at high-grade iron ore deposits .

Supervisor – Prof. Vladimir Zubov

3rd place – Igor Alushkin, 1st year post graduate student of the Moscow State Mining University

Research title: Development of technology for the enrichment of technogenic dumps quartz-feldspathic raw materials using radiometric methods .

Supervisor – prof. Tatiana Yushina

Awarding of winners will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the closing session  of MINEX Russia Forum

 


 

About the competition "From Idea to Innovation"

The competition "From Idea to Innovation" is organised since 2011 by MINEX Russia Forum with the assistance of the Council of Russian Universities’ Educational Association for mining education.

Heads of leading Russian and international companies take active part in evaluation of the proposed for the competition works.

The competition is designed to facilitate cooperation between mining companies and Russia’s higher mining education providers in the fields of technical innovation and practical implementation of innovative ideas.

Managing mining business during the downturn – challenges and strategies

«Managing mining business during the downturn – challenges and strategies» is one of the main topics that will be addressed by the second plenary session at MINEX Russia 2013 Forum scheduled for 2 October 2013.

The impressive list of speakers in this session includes Vitaly Nesis, Chief Executive Officer, Polymetal International Plc; Warwick Morley-Jepson, Vice President Russia, Kinross Gold Corporation; Senator Pavel Maslovskiy, Honorary President, Petropavlovsk Plc and Nikolay Zelenski, CEO, NordGold.

2nd Photo competition “Miners and Mines of Russia 2013″

MINEX Russia 2013 forum organisers continue to accept photo works from the mining professionals for the Miners and Mines of Russia competition, which is a part of 9th MINEX Russia Mining and Exploration Forum 2013. The finalists’ photos will be displayed on the Competition Display panel at the MINEX Expo Hall in Moscow on 2-3 October 2013. The winners will be presented with valuable prizes at the end of the forum on 3 October 2013.

Goals and objectives of the competition

  • Presentation of the wealth of Russian mineral resources as seen through the photo cameras of people working in the mining industry in Russia;
  • Creating objective image of Russian mining industry for present and future generations of miners;
  • Providing an opportunity for mining companies and organisations to participate in a unique social project aimed at promoting mining profession and development of a unique platform where amateur photographers working in mining industry can express themselves;
  • Creation of the national Internet-based Photo Club devoted to mining and geological amateur photography in Russia.

2nd MICROMINE users conference

2nd MICROMINE users conference

Micromine will be holding alongside MINEX Russia 2013 Forum the annual Micromine users conference on 3 October in Moscow.

Mr Graeme Tuder, Micromine's Managing Director and founder will be traveling to Moscow and greeting Russia’s conference delegates

During the conference, the following issues will be highlighted:

ROUND TABLE MEETING WITH THE FEDERAL AGENCY FOR SUBSOIL USE (ROSNEDRA)

The organising committee of MINEX Russia 2013 Forum is pleased to invite mining companies and investors to the Round Table meeting with the senior management of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation to discuss priority issues facing the Russian mining industry.  The meeting is kindly supported by OGK Group – the consortium uniting leading Russian service prospecting enterprises.

When: Wednesday 2 October 2013. 09.00 – 10.30

Venue: Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel, Moscow, Russia.

Who is invited: Senior directors of the Russian and International Mining companies and Mining Investors.

Participation terms: Free participation will be offered to the senior representatives of  Russian and International Mining companies and Investors.

Agenda: Rosnedra’s delegation will be led by Valery Anatolievich Pak, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation – The Head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra). During the roundtable we propose to discuss priority issues facing the mining industry and invite an open exchange of views from subsoil users. At the round table participants will be able to make suggestions and recommendations to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology and to the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra).

Restrictions: Number of places at the meeting is restricted. Registrations will be accepted on the first comes basis. No more than 3 representatives from one company can be admitted.

Questions: participants are kindly requested to submit before 1 September the questions they wish to discuss during the meeting.

Translation: The meeting will be conducted in Russian and will be equipped with simultaneous Russian and English translation facilities.

MINEX Russian 2013 endorsement letter issued by the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra)

The Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra) attaches great importance to the establishment of direct and open dialogue between the government and mining companies which operating in the Russian Federation.

Rosnedra is the official Lead partner of MINEX Russia 2013 Forum and is planning to present its priority plans in the framework of the Forum, which will be held in Moscow on 2 – 3 October 2013.

On 2 October before the official opening of the Forum, Rosnendra will hold a Roundtable meeting with the heads of mining and investment companies on current issues of subsoil use in Russia.

Rosnedra’s delegation will be led by Valery Anatolievich Pak, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation – The Head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra).

During the roundtable we propose to discuss priority issues facing the mining industry and invite an open exchange of views from subsoil users. CALL FOR SPEAKERS

Over 120 national and international companies and experts presented at the 8th MINEX Russia Forum in 2012 offering their views on current mining practices, projects and regulatory developments in Russia’s mining and mineral exploration.

MINEX Technical committee calls on Russian and International mining experts, analysts, investors, technological companies and government authorities to submit before 19 August 2013 abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 9th MINEX Russia Mining and Exploration Forum.

The forum will address on-going problems and look into prospects for the development of the Russian mining industry in current macroeconomic and policy climate.  Technical committee will be happy to consider presentation papers which offer cutting edge or cost saving solutions applicable to prospecting, exploration and mining in Russia and Globally.

NB: When proposing speaker presentation please note that we are unable to cover speaker’s travel expenses or sponsor research. Speakers, unless otherwise agreed, will be expected to pay entry fee should they wish to attend the forum. Exceptions must be agreed with the Organising Committee prior to the Forum.
