Baikal Mining Company was established in 2008 expressly for the Udokan copper deposit development and is the holder of subsoil License to extract copper and associated components at the deposit. The company is founded by OJSC Mikhailovsky GOK, which is a part of Metalloinvest Holding.

Udokan deposit is one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper deposits. According to JORC international standards Mineral Resources are estimated at 25,7 million tons of copper. The deposit is located in the Kalar District of the Transbaikal Territory. An industrial complex, which will be constructed at the deposit, is designed to process 36 million tons of ore per year. An annual production capacity of the plant will amount to 474 thousand tons of cathode copper with associated silver recovery. End product of ore processing is LME Grade A copper cathode as well as Dore silver bars.

The project is executed in line with international standards and world’s best practices, where particular attention is paid to environmental and social responsibility.
